How To Make Valentine’s Day Special For Your Sweetheart
January 27, 2008
Valentine’s Day is the day of love. It is a day to profess your love, tenderness and commitment to that one special person. But there are two sides to this.
Some feel that it is a wonderful day to say “I Love You” while others feel that this day is just hype. These three words can be said anytime of the year. Actually, I agree, “I Love You” can be whispered or expressed everyday but how many of us really do it. Those doing it, do they really mean it every time they say it or is it just wishing them as a matter of practice? The emotion involved in saying those words really adds the magic.
There are some couples who never need to say it because their actions speak louder than words. Professing love cements the relationship and makes it firmer to withstand all the curve balls that life throws at them. So why not make the use of this day of love called Valentine’s Day and be a part of this global celebration.
There are many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Here are tips to get you started.
1) Buying gifts is very common. The malls are filled with innovative ideas and packages to make things easy. But getting her something simple and yet meaningful really makes a difference.
2) Another interesting way to spend this day is to go back to the place where you first met. Going down memory lane brings out the wonderful feelings on how your journey began together.
3) Cooking a meal and setting it up romantically at home can be exciting.
4) Another way to spice up this day is to be a spoilt sport. Fooling her into believing that this day is silly and you have better things to do. Then surprise her with a wonderful evening together.
5) Booking a day at the spa together can also create a special touch.
6) Watching romantic movies together.
7) Going dancing.
8) Sending her an anonymous bouquet at work. Then popping in at lunchtime, and taking her out for a nice, quiet lunch. The best part of doing this is to watch her cheeks turn crimson in front of her colleagues who usually are very curious when love notes arrive with flowers and doesn’t say who it is from.
9) Exploring each others wild side on this day gives a new outlook to the relationship.
10) Going for a moonlight picnic.
There are unlimited things to do with your valentine. All you have to do is be genuine and creative. No presents will match up to the love that she sees in your eyes.

The Essence Of Being A Vegetarian-Learn How To Give Up Meat Eating Permanently
January 23, 2008
According to the Hindu Shastras (Religious Scriptures) human body is not designed to consume meat. But who is listening. One might even say – “I am not a Hindu so why do I care?” I am sure many people born in Hindu families too do not believe what the ancient seers have passed down generations together. So why am I writing this article? It is just my way of showing that apart from the spiritual point; there are scientific reasons why many people worldwide have opted to choose vegetarianism.
- Vegetarians are saved from various diseases like cancer, heart disease and many other chronic degenerative diseases. The cholesterol levels of vegetarians are upto 14% lesser than meat eaters. Fiber can only be obtained from vegetables which help patients suffering from constipation, piles, hemorrhoids and spastic colon.
- According to German Research Centre in Heidelberg vegetarians have lower risk of cancer because their immune systems are more effective in killing off tumor cells. Studies have also found that a plant based diet protects the body against prostrate, colon and skin cancers. Vegetables contain phyto-chemicals which are known to build immunity and balance hormone fluctuations. Vegetarian women tend to go through menopause with fewer complaints of sleeping disorders, hot flashes, fatigue, mood swings, weight gain, depression and diminishing sex drive.
- Vegetarian diet helps people to be slim and to maintain that weight for prolong period of time. When one stops eating meat, it helps to purge the body of toxins which includes pesticides, environmental pollutants, preservatives, steroids and hormones. Fish contain carcinogens (PCBs, DDT) and heavy metals like mercury, arsenic, lead, cadmium that cannot be removed through cooking or freezing.
- In most detoxification programs, people are always introduced to vegetable and fruit juices, meat and dairy products are put on hold. It is only a vegetarian diet that purifies the body both physically and mentally. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest in the US, 25% of all chicken carries Salmonella bacteria. CDC estimates, 70-90% of chickens contain the bacteria campy-lobacter (some strains of which are antibiotic resistant). Approximately 5% of cows carry the lethal strain of E. coli O157:H7 which causes virulent diseases and death. 30% of pigs slaughtered are infected with toxoplasmosis caused by parasites.
So if all these facts haven’t really changed your mind then I guess you will understand its effects when you age. As the arteries thicken with fat and pollutants, collected from the animals that you have consumed over the years, it will take a toll on your mind and body. The spiritual aspects of eating non-vegetarian are far more detrimental, only the seekers of the divine will understand.

Married Women Are Experts In Combating Stress
January 19, 2008
Happily married women may be able to beat job stress better than their husbands, a new study of 60 Californian couples shows.
All couples studied by the researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) had dull time jobs. They had two to three kids and a mortgage. For four days, the husbands and wives kept diaries about their job stress. They also provided saliva samples four times daily and rated their marital satisfaction.
The researchers measured levels of the stress hormone cortisol in the saliva samples. After a stressful day at work, cortisol levels faded fastest in happily married wives, reported the online edition of health magazine WebMD. The Study’s findings suggest that it is easier for satisfied wives to unwind from work, stress while women in unhappy marriages don’t get as much comfort from coming home.
“Wives in happier marriages may have had greater access to the space, time and support needed to recuperate after busy days,” the researchers write. Husbands were a different story. After negative social interactions at work, men’s cortisol levels stayed high in the evening, even those in happy marriages. Researchers said the body’s ways of coping with stress might be more sensitive to quality of marriage in women than in men.
“A woman can make or break a home”- that’s what my mother says. I hope this trend catches on soon and the number of divorce and broken homes rate come down in the new year.
