Become A Published Writer TodayThe whole idea behind being a writer is to get published. The pride and happiness to see your work splashed in a magazine and appreciated is one addiction that all writers want to experience regularly. But is this always possible?

Here are 10 easy steps to become a published writer.

1) Be Positive: Many writers are very apprehensive about their writing style. Before they can actually start writing, they start thinking of “What if it’s not good.” Stay away from such thoughts. They only restrict your creative splash.

2) Read Regularly: This really helps to understand the art of writing. It not only improves your writing techniques but experienced writers play an important in boosting our confidence. You get to know where you can improve when you compare your writing with theirs.

3) Plot Outline: It is crucial that you plot your characters of your story or novel. If you are planning to write an article, highlight its keywords and plan the structure of the article. It should have a beginning, middle and end. The ending should summarize the aim and resolve all the questions asked in the previous paragraphs.

4) Write Constantly: Keep writing your thoughts and plans. As you jot down your thoughts, you are a step closer to unveiling the success that is in store for you.

5) Edit And Re-Edit: Do you think like a professional? Then make sure your work reflects that same image. Get rid of all the clichés and typos. Incorporate all the rules of grammar and tense. Simple mistakes tend to get overlooked so make sure that your writing is crisp and error free.

6) Market Research: Find the magazine that suits your topic. Read the guidelines thoroughly and evaluate their requirements with your article.

7) Competition: Don’t be afraid of the competition. The best way to beat your opponents is to find your own unique presentation on the subject. Research and get a thorough understanding of the topic and then explain it in your own point of view. A dose of humor along with it is always appreciated.

8) Strategy: The best way to impress an editor is to write an excellent cover letter. Explain the point of your article in few words. If you have published clips, include them as well. You need to understand the magazine first before you are ready to pitch. If you don’t follow the needs of the magazine, then the editor cannot help you.

9) Rejection And Criticism: Remember the editor is not an enemy who seeks revenge rejecting your story. He or she is an overworked soul who is trying very hard to find what is best suited for his/her magazine. Some editors actually take the time to critique your work because they see some potential. They give their genuine insights. Learn to accept these corrections in a positive way.

10) Keep Exploring: Review and edit your articles regularly. There are plenty of markets that can be tapped. So keep at it.

Giving up is not an option.
