Life does throw many curve balls from time to time. Maybe it is nature’s way to test how we are growing as mature individuals. The test could be to check our emotional status or even to see how we stand in terms of our values, morals and the will to succeed. You may have been working on your first novel for two years and have done everything by the book in terms of language, grammar, plot, characters and even given it to an expert to proofread it. But you still see the rejection slip.
“What have I done wrong?”
The attachment towards your creation is so intense that we really cannot see anything wrong in it. Losing hope and turning away is so easy. Are these the only hurdles that a writer’s creativity? The list is exhaustive but we can identify some of them like the death of a loved one, financial crisis and a heart break. It is very easy to give advice and say that everything has a solution.
At times, we may be aware of the answers but the emotions are so intense that it is extremely difficult to think positive and continue with our daily routine. Getting back your frame of mind is not easy. There are days you will feel you are over it and then the next morning, the memories return and you feel the need to be exorcised again. The support of well-wishers does help but how long would you want to cling to them. It is you who has to find a way to channelize those emotions and get life going again.
Remember the longer you delay, the harder you are making it for yourself to be the well-known and successful writer that you are destined to become.
