Developing Creative Writing Skills – The Beginners Guide
May 9, 2007
“Ideas are a beginning of all achievements” – Makes you wonder what this space is all about.
Creative juices don’t flow on a daily bases like the pancreatic juice or the bile from the liver that digests all the junk food and additives in our diet. They have a mind of their own. They are like stubborn children who will never do what they are told and pose an embarrassment in front of strangers.
Creativity needs time, space and freedom to express and evolve. If you keep a bottle of honey in the fridge and suddenly decide to add it to your bread, rest assured that you will relish the dry slice of carbohydrate and think that the honey is really not your thing today. Scooping a spoonful of chilled honey from the end of the jar can be compared to the frustration that one feels when penning down a new story or a novel. The best way is to invert the jar and let it do its own thing.
The purpose of this blog is not to teach or provide pointers on how to become a successful, prolific writer or how to excel in selling your best literary pieces to a publishing house. Such information is widely available over the internet. Every newsletter has pointers and tips and so do all published writers. Each one tries their best to impart valuable lessons for success or situations to watch out for.
The aim of “Creative Writing In A Nutshell” is to understand the common problems that every writer goes through as a beginner and lend them support. It deals with how to overcome writers block, develop new ideas, manage personal moods and learn how to face different writing challenges.
Experiences gained by established writers help to develop creative writing skills for the beginners. All what the newbies have to do is to use these information wisely.
