How To Write The Perfect Plot
May 17, 2007
Many writers think or create a story with the ending in mind then they work towards the beginning, while others formulate plots differently. Sometimes it is not enough to just get an idea. You need to develop it by explaining it and go deep into the mind of the character.
This can be made possible with research. The more you are able to conceptualize and think in detail about the idea, the better is the flow and the plot gets intricately woven. It builds interest and the reader gets more involved.
I had written a story for a mystery magazine called Miss Saphira’s Strange and Mysterious Tales where the plot was based on a painting. I am not an artist or have any association with painters but while developing this story I read a lot about the Renaissance era and their styles. How masterpieces are preserved? What tests are done to determine the age of a portrait and how they are declared as authentic or a forgery? This added a new dimension to my original plot. If you are interested to read this story then post a response here with your email id and I will be happy to forward it to you.
It is easy to decide what you would like to eat for dinner but preparing it to be palatable, with a feeling of satiety for a restful slumber needs work. You have to cook it just right. Working on a story is also something on these lines but the difference is that with writing you are preparing your unique dish which you name and serve in your own style.
