Hi,

You posted the Sankashti Chaturthi Dates for 2010.
Are the dates same for people living in USA Also?

I am not asking about the moon times..That will be local to the place we live. But I want to know about the dates. will they be the same for USA and INDIA?

Hello Man Mohan Batra,
It is very thought provoking question you have asked. As per my limited knowledge, I am aware that the name “Ganesh” was conferred to the Lord by his father, Lord Shiva after his head was replaced with an elephant’s head. He was named “Ganapati” meaning the leader of all the Ganas (the sevaks or followers of Shivji) when he had won the race with his brother Lord Karthik, of going around the world first.

Do read our other posts called Legends of Lord Ganesh. There are many short incidents of Lord Ganesh’s life that we have compiled. (Search for them in the search box provided within the blog) If you have more questions, do let us know. We will try and answer them as best as we can.

Respected Sir,
One question has just now crossed my mind regarding Lord Ganesh. What is his
actual name? What name was given to him just like all parents give names to
their off springs. The names like ganesh, Ganpati or Gajanan are the various facets of his appearance or he got after winning the race with his brother.

Please help me and guide me.
