If you are an insomniac or turning into one then these tips will help you break the cycle. Stress-filled lifestyle, worries, anxiety taken to bed over a period of time causes sleepless nights. Soon even without realizing you turn into an insomniac.
Here are some tips to change your membership at the insomniac club.
1) Set a routine and go to bed at the same time daily.
2) Stimulating beverages like coffee, alcohol should be taken six to seven hours prior to bedtime. These disturb your deep slumber and keep you tossing and turning.
3) When trying to sleep avoid thoughts of work or think of the events of the day and how better you could have handled it. The day is over and tomorrow is another day so let bygones be bygones.
4) Soaking in the hot tub relaxes you and helps to settle you in bed faster.
5) If counting sheep doesn’t help you fall asleep then do some deep breathing exercises or listen to some soft instrumental music.
6) Watching the time ticking at the bedside table, doesn’t help. Try reading a book that you would normally not choose. This will surely help you fall asleep soon.
7) Binging because you cannot sleep is not advisable. You will gain unnecessary weight and the food will remain undigested till morning. A glass of warm milk with a little bit of honey calms the nerves and creates a soothing effect.
Sleeping is a necessary act in our lives. It is to rejuvenate the mind and body. It is recharging of the cells of the body which tend to get worn out during the day. If this process is not given sufficient care and thought then it affects the functioning of the entire nervous system. Lack of sleep has a lot of side-effects. I don’t want to write them down and let your mind wonder at night when you are unable to sleep.
So let’s keep this simple. If you sleep the recommended hours then you will improve your quality of life and longevity of all the cells of the body. So goodnight and sweet dreams.
