Bloating is a very uncomfortable and irritating experience. Up to 20% of people experience this on regular bases. Here are tips to help you manage this heaviness.
1) Replace salt with other seasonings like pepper, herbs, lemon and balsamic vinegar. Avoid packaged foods with more than 1.25g salt per 100g. Salt makes you retain fluid and reducing the amount you eat can shift as much as two to three pounds of water weight.
2) Have three servings of skimmed milk or low-fat yoghurt daily. Calcium relieves PMS symptoms in general and also fluid retention.Taking a 200 mg supplement of magnesium can also help reduce fluid retention.
3) Eat regular small meals during the day rather than one large blowout at night.
4) Avoid too many wind-making foods such as beans, cabbage and sugar-free chewing gum.
5) Increase your intake of friendly bacteria with a daily pro-biotic yoghurt or drink.
6) Limit your intake of alcohol and fizzy drinks, especially with meals and avoid talking. This causes you to swallow more air while you are eating.
