Manicure Taking care of nails is as crucial as watching your diet. Nothing looks shabbier than broken nails or chipped nail polish. Here are some pointers.

How To Care For Your Nails:

  • Nails can be easily damaged if used casually as tools to pick, poke or pry things.
  • Avoid nail biting. This damages the nail bed. A minor prick or cut alongside the nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter and cause an infection. The nails grow slowly, so it tends to retain the signs of an injury for several months.

  • Wear rubber gloves when cleaning dishes, kitchen utensils, or any household activities where the hands and nails will be constantly in contact with harsh chemicals for a long time.

  • Rub lotion into your nails when moisturizing your hands. Always try and apply a moisturizer each time you wash your hands.

2) Soak your fingers in a bowl of lukewarm sudsy water. After few minutes, use a nail brush and gently brush under the nails. This softens the nails and removes all the dirt.

3) Wash your hand with plain water and wipe dry.

4) Apply cuticle cream on each nail and gently massage it in. Take some more cream and using a cuticle stick, clean the edges of the nail. Massage the hand and fingers well with a hand lotion.

6) File the nail neatly or trim the nails with a nail cutter.

7) Apply a coat of nail hardener before you apply nail polish. Nail polish should be applied in one direction. After one coat, let it dry before applying the second layer. There are different brands of nail varnish available some have the quick drying effect. Those who prefer plain natural looking nails should apply a coat of natural or clear color nail polish as it gives a very clean and sparkling effect to the nails.

Manicured nails add to the personality of a person. So nail grooming should be done often to maintain hygiene and cleanliness.
