Tips To A Healthy Pumping Heart
June 2, 2007
Whether people think with their hearts or their heads, it doesn’t deter the fact that the heart is the key of our existence. Keep it fit and it takes us a long way in life.
This small organ contracts 100,000 times a day and pumps five to six litres of blood each minute. To keep this functioning at its optimum, we need to keep exercising. It pumps twenty times more when we workout.
Keeping a fitness regime ensures that the heart muscles are enlarged which helps us in carrying on with our lives with less fatigue like climbing the stairs or running around with the kids. It builds resistance to stress, heart attacks and other heart diseases.
Simple aerobic exercising done thirty minutes a day can make a difference. It could be walking, swimming, cycling or playing sports like tennis, badminton etc. It is good to begin any exercise routine by consulting your doctor first and finding out how much should you push yourself. It is always wise to start slowly and then after few weeks you can move on to the next level.
There is no age for exercising. You can start it at any age and build your stamina and endurance slowly. So it is all about taking baby steps and before you know, you will be looking back and wondering why you hadn’t attempted it before.
