I Love Junk Food

Forbidden food tastes sweeter. This is so true for junk food. We all know that junk food is detrimental to our health and yet do we give it up completely? Not many of us.
Some really try to avoid it and stick to their health regime while some fail. Some get so frustrated that they tend to binge even more than before. In the end, the weighing scale tips on the higher level, so does the blood pressure and cholesterol. The eaters are coerced into healthy eating habits and the cycle goes on.
Here are some tips to enjoy eating junk food so that its side effects can be minimized.
1) Drink two glasses of water before eating junk food. This will keep you hydrated and will make you feel less hungry.
2) Order an iced tea or fresh fruit juice instead of ordering colas or aerated drinks. This will cut down on some of the empty calories.
3) Avoid ordering food with extra cheese. Instead ask for extra serving of vegetables and herbs.
4) Enjoy junk food like burger, pizza etc without adding extra mayonnaise, ketchup or any such sauces. Such food items are usually prepared well, adding those extra things will only increase on more calories.
5) Chew and relish your food. Avoid rushing. This will help you to know when you are full and prevent overeating.
6) Dessert is usually accompanied after a good meal. Try to indulge in fresh fruits or fruity yoghurts instead of the big sundaes, brownies, gooey fudge etc.
7) Junk food contains a lot of fat and sodium. To cut down on its bad effects, it is best to drink a lot of water. The excess sodium gets flushed out of the system quicker if the water consumption is increased.
Hope these seven pointers help the next time you feel like indulging in junk food.

i googled “junk food” and i stumbled upon your site. actually i’m in my 3rd day of cleansing diet (raw fruits and veg. only) and i’m craving for foods like this! (i’m not fat, i’m skinny and underweight!)

Thank you for your comment. We all fall prey to junk food but knowing how to curb that desire inspite of our taste buds longing for it, shows self control and discipline. I firmly believe in that. Good to know that you are one of us :)
