Olive Oil is the best amongst the different types of oil. Here are some of its nutritional values which help us to curb and control various ailments.
1) Good quality olive oil contains natural chemical that acts like a painkiller. Researches indicate that 50g of extra virgin olive oil was equivalent to about a tenth of a dose of ibuprofen.
2) If women consume olive oil during pregnancy, the child born will be better in terms of height, weight and psychomotor reflexes.
3) Olive oil is high in calories like any other fats and oils but researches state that there is less obesity in Mediterranean regions because the native there consume this oil. It is said that moderate amounts of olive oil will also reduce abdominal fat, if consumed as part of a diet high in plant foods.
4) This oil contains antioxidants and helps in the prevention of various types of skin cancer and breast cancer. It is also known to slow down the ageing process.
5) Olive oil slows down the acid overproduction in the digestive tract and thus curbing the chances of ulcers and other gastric problems.

Olive Oil is not very popularly used in Indian cuisine. But the trend is catching on and it is widely used in salad dressings, combined with other herbs to give a change to the taste buds.
