Many health experts still propagate the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercising as the key elements to loose weight. But for many it’s a hard reality especially when the goal to reach the desired weight is far away.
The quest for the ideal weight, muscle development and toning has lead many to spend thousands of dollars and yet the thirst for new avenues continue. There are some appliances in our kitchen that can help us lose weight. It is just that we haven’t noticed their potential yet.
1) The Oven: Grilled foods are healthier as they retain the nutrients as compared to fried foods. Besides, they absorb less oil. Microwave oven is ideal to parboil vegetables and can easily cut down on our calorie intake.
2) The Spice Rack: Simple spices can replace sugar cravings. A dash of cinnamon in our tea or coffee adds uniqueness in flavor and its aroma is refreshing. Cardamom and saffron too work wonders when added to hot milk. Throat infections and irritations can be cured when turmeric is added to hot milk mixed with honey. This can easily substitute chocolate and cocoa powder that is routinely preferred with milk.
4) Ketchup Dispenser: Just like lotions and creams have a pump with a nozzle to spray out liquids in small amounts, similar attachments should be added to ketchup bottles and other varieties of sauces. This definitely cuts down on the salt and oil consumption which form the basic ingredients of such flavorings.
5) Cheese Grater: Hot buns, sizzling corncobs and toasted garlic breads look incomplete without a dash of cheese. The grater helps to cut down on the quantity of cheese; otherwise you would have added a big chunk or diced cubes. The cheese grater allows you to relish these treats with a sparing amount of fat.
6) Oil Spray Can: Spraying oil on non-stick cookwares and cooking in them cuts down on a lot of calories. The food is cooked right without any greasiness or leaving behind any oil residue on the cooking pots and pans.
7) Salt and Pepper Shaker: Cutting down on salt intake helps to lower blood pressure. The salt and pepper shaker should be filled with herbs and spices like oregano, cilantro, dehydrated coriander etc. These give a good flavoring and help to maintain good health.
8 ) The Blenders: Many dieters complain that seeing boiled vegetables on their plates depresses them. This deters them from sticking to their diet plan. Blenders have a unique way of smoothening out things. Add the boiled vegetables and blend in your favorite soup. Make vegetable dips and relish with toasted multi-grain breads. These make healthy snacks.
These simple tips can help to combat the increasing problem of obesity. These kitchen tools and appliances are found in every household. It is time that we make use of them and lose weight.
