CucumberWe have all relished cucumbers in our salads and are familiar with its crunchiness. They are also used in making face packs to soothe skin which are sensitive in nature.Here are some benefits of cucumber which I am sure many are not familiar with:

1) Cucumber contains Vitamin C and caffeic acid which help to reduce skin irritations.

2) Its skin is rich in fibre and includes minerals like silica, potassium and magnesium.

3) The silica is an essential component of healthy connective tissue which includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bone.

4) Cucumber has high water content and is excellent to hydrate the body and skin.

5) Ascorbic acid and caffeic acid in it prevents water retention that is why cucumbers are applied topically for swollen eyes burns and dermatitis.

6) It contains fair amounts of fibre and makes most salads filling.
