We all enjoy a good scary movie and especially tales that have things that go bump in the night. But how many of us know the difference between ghosts, spirits, entity and poltergeists.
The spirit of one who has died but for numerous reasons has refused to leave the physical world is known as ghost. Some of us are confused and find it hard to distinguish between one’s soul and one’s spirit. A person’s soul is the foundation of creation of the human spiritual anatomy. The spirit is the inner essence of an individual, encasing the soul.
Entity, ghost, spirit, apparition are all the conscious energy that was left from a living person after they have died. Let us understand what we really mean as a ghost or when we say a place is haunted.
Ghost can be explained as a form of recording, similar to an audio or video tape. There is no life force left. A ghost simply replays the same scene over and over again. It is a residual energy of a person or animal. If a person has performed s repetitious act for a long period of time, he or she leaves a psychic impression or groove in that area. This groove may stay in the place long after the person who has created it has moved or died. The psychic groove is very vivid. When it is first encountered, the apparition or a recording appears as if it were real. The clothing and facial features are clearly seen. Perfume or other scents are also known to be experienced. Over time, the groove or ghost get weak, but can be recharged under the right circumstances. People who visit such places and have felt this residual force of a ghost call the place as haunted.
Spirit is the actual living essence or soul of a person that has remained after their physical body has died. They appear for one of the three reasons. First, if a person died suddenly or with little warning, as incase of a car accident. He or she may not realize that they are actually dead.
Second, a person could be confirmed to this world by an un-kept promise made to a loved one. In Belgrave Hall, Leicester, UK there is a spirit of a small girl who visits one of the rooms. She had communicated with a medium that she visits this place to play with her doll. Her mother had promised that she would keep her doll next to her. She had died at the age of six, suffering from tuberculosis. But her mother had forgotten her promise and did not place her favorite toy in her grave. So she returns to play with it.
Third, an individual may have some unfinished business usually pertaining to a loved one. A variation of this reason could be if the person was murdered at an untimely point in their life.
Spirits unlike ghosts can communicate with the living. Usually, if a person frequents a place where the deceased spent much of his or her time, a form of psychic communication may evolve. It can be in the form emotions like sudden sadness or unexplained distress that can be felt in one particular section of a house. Another way that a spirit can communicate with the living is through dreams. Sometimes a spirit can make itself appear as an apparition or make small things physically move.
Poltergeist is a form of ghost activity where they are unhappy. They usually feed off our fear. To seek our attention they resort to activities in the physical plane like throwing objects. They also known to hide things and then when the person is going crazy looking for it, they make it appear in another place.
