Caffeine is not very fat soluble, so transdermal use of the chemical is not effective apart from the moisturizing creams it may be in. It takes many hours in direct contact with caffeine to get a sufficient dose to notice any effects at all, not to mention that the quantity and solution of the caffeine allows almost none of the chemical to come in direct contact with the skin.
