Shopping On A Budget
November 12, 2008
Splurging at the mall is easy. It is an experience we all know and many of us look forward to such an opportunity. Shopping is cathartic. It is fairly uncommon when a woman would say no to shopping.
Budgeting is not a child’s play. When we are at the mall, we forget all our worries and go for it. But it is crucial that we know how impulse buying can affect our finances.
Tips On How To Shop On A Budget:
1) Decide on what you need to buy. Check on various catalogues and websites to find out the best bargains.
2) If you are not in a hurry, go through all the brands selling that particular product.
3) Styles and trends change very often. So you can wait for the product to go on sale.
4) Many products are sold at a lesser cost online.
5) If you are looking for a particular outfit, you can hit the discount stores. You will be surprised with their range and attractive merchandises.
6) Sometimes, marketing a product well catches the consumer’s eye. A similar item could be equally good in quality but remains unknown because of bad branding. So go through all products thoroughly.
7) Many believe that if an item is expensive, then it must be good and durable. This is absolutely untrue.
8) Don’t buy something you don’t need because it is being offered at a discounted rate.
Malls have a way of enticing every consumer to buy things beyond their purchasing power. It is time we wake up and realize that all that glitters cannot always be bought. Value for money and budgeting are essential words to remember in today’s recession.
