Valentine’s Day For Lovers Or Losers?

February 9, 2009

Valentine's Day SpecialThe hype of Valentine’s Day celebrations usually starts by the end of January and goes on and on till the day it finally arrives. Home shopping networks, television and radio commercials, print ads, all keep reminding us what all we can buy for our valentine. Gifts and collectibles are available whether you have the money for it or not. Weekend packages, cruise packages and romantic escapades are all available and you are definitely spoilt for choices.

So is Valentine’s Day really for lovers or losers?

Those in love will call it a lover’s day. Those who have been in love and are involved in a long term commitment will be on the fence and those never in love will think otherwise.

If you are not in love then your perception is that those in love and who celebrate this day are the real losers. This is mainly because during recession people are forced to spend on gifts, dinners and celebration. All this becomes mandatory.

Being single has its benefits but Valentine’s Day gives them something to ponder and re-evaluate their love life. Those seeing someone expect to make the relationship steady; those who have some stability and understanding want to make it permanent.

Most people believe that you don’t need to have a day to express your love, there are other days of the year too. While others need this day to validate and dedicate their love.

So you decide which side are you on with those who boo Valentine’s day or those who cheer this day. As for me, I will make notes and ponder over my own reflections of this day of love.
